‘Women of Aldborough’ talks by Dr Rose Ferraby 11.00am and 2.30pm

Dr Rose Ferraby has been leading The Aldborough Roman Town Project since it began in 2009, with the aim of learning more about the remains of Isurium Brigantium, and what it could reveal about Roman Britain. Rose follows in the footsteps of a number of women archaeologists who have been investigating Aldborough over the last 100 years. Together they have discovered a great deal about this Roman town which was a very important centre of administration for much of northern Britain. Rose will be talking to visitors to the site about the work that she and her predecessors have done. She will also be showing some of the exciting finds from recent excavations.

There will be children’s activities including a Dig in a Box and mosaic making. FORA volunteers will also be leading tours of the site throughout the day.
