With every excavation new finds are discovered. Each one gives a valuable insight in to life in Isurium Brigantum and, in some cases changes our perception of what life was like in this important Roman town. After each dig, the finds are sent to coins, glass, ceramic, bones and finds specialists who begin the process of analysis.
Dr Stephen Greep, former Chair of the Roman Finds Group and a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries, will talk about some of the recent finds from excavations at Roman Aldborough. He will also be bringing a number of these to have on display after the talk.
Vida Rajkovaca is a bone specialist from Cambridge University who has worked on the animal bone from Aldborough. Originally trained in Palaeolithic zooarchaeology, she has studied a wide range of assemblages from prehistoric rural settlements to Romano- British sites. Vida will be joining us by live Zoom at the meeting to tell us more about what has she has learnt from the wide range of animal bone from Roman Aldborough.
We hope that you are able to join us for what promises to be a fascinating talk.
